"STEWART" Overhead Welding Positioner

These Overhead Welding Positioners (formally called "Beam Rollovers") are a safe and economical method for rotating girders, towers, tanks, large pipes and other long weldments.

The typical arrangement consists of a powered drive unit and an idler using two hoists in tandem. The weldment is supported by two polyester slings (which can be endless or reconnectable) and is rotated in a controlled manner to any position.

They are available air powered up to 40 ton capacity and electric powered up to 10 ton capacity with various control arrangements. All are rugged, portable, take up little floor space, and can be used in the field.

Controls for the electric units can be attached to the welder's gun. Fast mode (10 FPM) for positioning, tacking, and skip welding. Slow mode (6 to 30 IPM) with cruise control to match the desired welding speed.
